You may have heard of the term «Research Paper» in the past, regardless of whether you are an undergraduate or graduate. But do you really know what it is? What are the different types of research papers? Are there any distinct features among research papers written in APA format? Let’s look at some of the most common types of research papers that are written in APA format.
Research papers in APA format. As the name indicates, APA format research papers use the APA format for the title page and table of contents. A complete research paper in APA format will typically have an Abstract, Title Page, History and Description of Research Methodology, Results, and a discussion. The Title and Abstract appear on the first page. The Table of Content and Results are on the pages that follow.
Argumentative Papers. Argumentative papers differ from research papers be cause they do not contain a lot of descriptive information. Rather, they offer either an opinion, with supporting evidence, or a thesis statement. An argumentative research paper will be referring to a specific topic or an example. Although it isn’t usually required, an argumentative research paper will be written with reference to a specific topic or an example.
Research and Evaluation Paper. Evaluation papers are APA-format research papers that provide an evaluation of your assignment or the procedure you used to complete it. They also include your suggestions for further research and study. Your instructor is likely to assign one of these papers to you for your class work. Your instructor will determine what information you need and will include this information in the syllabus for the course.
Journal Article. Similar in spirit as a research paper, Journal Articles are similar to research papers in that they Journal Article is designed to present your own research results, research process or observations in a way as to affect the reader’s perception or encourage them to participate in further research. As opposed to a research paper Journal Articles do not have to be scholarly. Journal Article is not required to be a research paper, though certain writing processes require proof of your arguments and claims. Many academic and professional journals publish articles that have been written by faculty members or students.
Comment and review section. Apart from being utilized to write a report on your research papers, your comments section could also be used to comment on research papers you enjoyed reading. You may write an overview of an article you found fascinating and well-written. Or, you may make a comment on a paper that was grammatically and logically flawless. As is the case with research papers reviews and comments, a review section is typically required by most academic institutions for students to complete. The guidelines for reviewing and commenting on research papers are different by academic department and school. Most universities and colleges will require you to read the entire article, or at the very least the Introduction and Table of Contents.
References as well as b.s. Sources. Like research papers, sources for your essay must be convincing and original. The sources you choose for your essay should be thoroughly researched and chosen so that they can add the weight of your argument. The most reliable sources for your essay are the most accurate and provide the most insight into your subject, but they should also fit naturally into the overall paper and not appear as if you are simply plucking information out of the air.
Conclusion. The final thing you should do after your research paper is completed is to summarize all the information you’ve gathered. In the end, you must conclude with your strong endorsement and a call for action. Write down your most important point(s) and then refer back to all your other sources and suggestions. Your conclusion is usually the most important section of your essay, so make sure you make sure you have plenty of time to write it.
